    Hi,

If you go for the 2.0TDi your only gearbox options will be the 6-speed manual or the Multitronic CVT. There have been a few stories on here of Multitronic boxes failing on the earlier C5 A6s and B6 A4s, but there I don't recall seeing any on the later cars. Even so, it's definitely worth getting a warranty with your new purchase, and make sure it covers parts and labour for the Multitronic box!

Otherwise, it's worth checking when the car last had a cambelt change, and also enquiring whether the water pump was replaced at the same time.

    Happy hunting!

Other than the cambelt/water pump being changed, check the clutch operates smoothly with no judder, look for condensation in the rear light clusters and peeling window switches on the driver's door. Obviously, check that everything works properly too. I'm sure others will be able to add extra stuff to look for based on their experiences...
