I have an auto electrician looking at turning the immo off on my A6 due to problems with dash panel and locking out the key transponder - He as taken the route of adapting the ECU but we are still haveing problems with the immo cutting the engine out - Anyone know the location of this - My car is a phase II A6 from late 98.

The immobiliser is in the instrument cluster and ECU. What are you trying to do? What exactly is the problem with the dash panel?

Hi, I had a dodgy dash pixels gone and a gauge so I opted for a secondhand panel, codes missing for both panels - I have had some one try to turn the immobiliser off - Is it a code remap for keys, dash and ECU ?

Why kill the immobiliser when you can have it programmed in properly??

I do loads of these, do you still have the old dash? You could put it in and drive down to me. If not, I could come up to you but of course that would cost more.

Hi, I had seen your stuff on the forum but as I am in very North Lancs almost Cumbria I got someone local he metioned the two immobiliser and Codes - I have the Pod and not keen on VW Audi charging silly money on a 98 car.
Look if he needs any technical can he give you a call ? I am pesronally frustrated with this problem.
So close to Xmas and commitments I couldnt get down to Mansfield.

I'm not being rude but if they knew what they were doing and had the right tools, your car would be running and you wouldn't have to kill the immobiliser (which you won't do without taking the ECU out).

There's no point in him calling me if he doesn't have the tools or knowledge required to find the codes and properly program the cluster in, plus if I told everyone my expertise then there would be no point in me putting all the time into what I do just to go and tell everyone.

    I'm not even expensive!

The auto electrician sounds rather unfamiliar with what he is doing.

I for one will be giving Shark Performance a call when I find a fully working facelifted A6 instrument cluster on ebay or similar, as mine has a defective fuel gauge, and I will need any new cluster coded to my immobiliser. I won't be trying to deactivate it!
