    how do i tell if my 2001 A6 avanti is a facelift model

    You could post a picture of the front end, stood directly in front of it.

    I'd probably then be able to tell you.

    Yep, pre-facelift.

    The facelifted one uses different bulbs in the lights (possibly different light units too, I'm not sure), has a different lower grille and front bumper and has a different upper grille and bonnet. They also have different alloys and interior styling.

    It's mostly styling stuff, but there you go.

    Quite simply the speedo and tachometer has a chrome ring around them.
