I was at an audi dealer today and was told that i'll have to get certain things done to my car and fitted so it will be able to take an aftermarket sat nav. I've found a unit on the internet with the screen etc.
My car is a audi a6 avant 2.5tdi quattro on a 03 plate. Can anyone tell me what i have to do? and what price i should be paying?
Also can anyone tell me of a good breakers yard that will post your order,I need a luggage cover also.
    many Thanks
    Calum

    Hi,

    Welcome to the forum.

I assume you're referring to retro-fitting the RNS-E navigation unit? What audio headunit is fitted to your A6 at the moment - Concert or Symphony? If you have a Symphony, it's double-din like the RNS-E so should be a fairly simple swap. If you have Concert (or Chorus), they are single-din, meaning you will need a double-din enclosure and you will need to either swap your climate control unit or reshape the face plate of it so it fits lower in the console.

There is a guide here for retro-fitting RNS-E to an A3 requiring single-din to double-din conversion - it should give you some idea of the work involved and the parts you will require.

If you don't want to undertake this yourself, get in touch with Ben at Shark Performance (www.sharkperformance.co.uk) or send him a PM (Shark_90). Alternatively you could try Craig at TCL (www.tclsatnav.com) - either of them will be able to quote you for the retrofit.
