    Hello,

First of all let me explain that I am not at all knowledgeable about cars, however my not so useful mechanic has told me some parts that I need.... needless to say I am slightly annoyed.. anyway here I go.

I have a P reg Volkswagen mark 3 Golf GTI 16 valve and I need a few small parts...

One of the parts relates to the dipstick, where you put the dispstick in at the top of the hole there is a plastic orange part which I believe creates a seal when you put the disptick in, also this ensures that you are getting the correct reading, this orange plastic part has disintegrated and needs replacing.

Another part that I need is a hose (this will be fun for me to try and explain), the mechanic described this as a breather hose which comes from the main engine block, this hose is thick one end and thin the other, the other end seems to go into the bottom of a plastic box.

heres a few images which will make it easier to understand

    hi there

try either GSF or Euro car parts for the bits, they both have websites where you can check the availability of parts and compare prices.

they ought to stock all these bits, if you dont know what the parts are caused i'm sure if you went in and described it the people in the shop would get what you mean.

can your mechanic not order it in for you?

cheers I will let you know how i get on...

I work with computers and wouldn't dream of telling my customers to go out and buy the parts ... but for some reason he seems to think its easier for me to go and get these parts for my car
