Does anyone else have issues getting the alarm LED (the one on the top panel of the driver's door) to flash?

Most of the time when I lock the car, the LED doesn't activate. I've noticed that if I then unlock the car, and re-lock it, the LED gives six rapid flashes and then flashes normally.

The manual states that just locking the car will activate the alarm, although it makes no reference to the LED. The only reference I can see to the LED is in the section on dead-locking, where if you puch the lock button twice the dead-locking is deativated, but I'm not doing this.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks.

I dont think there is anything wrong with your car. It's just the way it is.

    Of course it should flash.
After locking my car with one click of the blipper, my LED light in the door flashes about every 2 to 3 seconds. As far as I'm concerned, if activated, your car's LED should flash to confirm activation and that the car's alarm is armed and active.

Once you lock the car the Red LED light should flash every 2 - 3seconds, if it does not then try unlocking and locking again ? if it still does not flash then you may have a problem. worth checking to make sure the interior alarm is on behind the drivers seat

What should be 'on behind the driver's seat'?

I mean the little switch located just to the right behind the drivers seat which turns the motion sensor alarm off it's a little switch it's also demonstrated in the manual

If I do that (unlock it and relock it) it will always flash, but my point is that I would expect it to flash after the first lock, and it seems that for most other people here that is what happens.

Sometimes it does flash after the first lock though. I'll try and establish if there is any pattern to this or whether it is random.

If that switch was inadvertantly set, it only operates the once. Once you unlock the car, the default setting i.e normal operation in restored. This interior motion sensor de-activation switch needs to be set each time you require it. i.e leaving someone or an animal inside or leaving a window, sunroof ajar or when towing the car.

A number of rapis flashes is normally a fault finding diagnostic, the number of flashes indicating the fault.
