Am suffering with heavy condensation early evening when leaving work. The windscreen is completely white and takes 10 minutes with air con on and a wipe with cloth before I can go anywhere. I previously had this with my Eos and hence the reason I got rid of it as it leaked. Has anyone else experienced this ? 1.4SE 59 plate. Cannot believe I can be unlucky again with Golf.

Do you have your aircon all the time? This might be the reason, in that there is excessive moisture or water on or around the condenser.
Try running your car with the heater on maximum and without the aircon on for the last mile or so of your journey before parking up.

Are you sure the aircon is on and working? As aircon acts as a dehumidifier and condensaion should be cleared in seconds. If you have aircon, not matter recycling the inside air or from outside, the air that comes out from the vents shall be dry air.

I agree with HHGTTG in trying the heater on max. However disagree with the problem lying with the aircon used excessivly. I use aircon all the time and never have any condensation in the car, even when its been heavy rain.

Good luck with resolving this problem.

I am having the same problem with a 2002 A4 avant - in the morning the windscreen is soaking wet inside and was even slightly frozen this morning - I'm pretty sure there is no water coming into the car as none of the seats or carpet seem wet (although difficult to tell completely when so cold!). After reading a couple of other forums, I took mine to kwik fit today to see if the air con needed regassing and when he checked the initial temp out of the unit he was getting -0.91 which he said was the best result he had ever had so didnt think it needed to be done...Any suggestions? As an extra question a strange thing seems to have happened now - you know when you want to split the climate control in the cabin between passenger and driver you just press the - or + button on the passenger side (ie: she wants it hotter, you want it colder) and to re-sinc you just press the 2 auto buttons together at the same time? well, mine now (since being in kwik fit) seems to have reversed. Its the drivers side that no splits the zones and the passenge side which seems to be the 'master'. has anyone else had this strange problem, and if so, is there anyway of resetting to make the drivers side the master again?

If the inside of your windscreen is heavily fogged (rather than dripping wet) then it can be partly due to the release of compounds from within the interior plastics. A very thorough clean with Autoglym fast glass should sort it out. If you use air con a lot then the problem will be worse when you drive the car with it turned off.

I had this problem in a Passat.
Free the Recirc flap that was stuck in Recirc position and never steamed up again. Easy fix.

Look at the cabin filter it may need changing, and when you first get in the car only have the air con on number one
