99 Cabrio - fan only works at highest speed; A/C only works in sppeds 1-3

Hello,

Thank you for having me in this forum. I have a 1999 Cabrio and, after driving without A/C or much fan over the summer, noticed that my interior heating/cooling fan is only working in the 4th (highest setting). Also, the cold A/C seems not to work when the fan is on the 4th setting, but is cold (although not blowing) on speeds 1-3. Any guidance or ideas on what this could be is very much appreciated.

Normally, if the fan is not working on various settings, it'll be the heater blower fan resistor, or something like that. It can be found by removing the trim that's in the passengers footwell - so stick your head into the footwell and look up. Held in the ducting with one screw, IIRC. Slide it out. Simple. This was the case with my partners Mk3 (non-AC though) and as the 1999 Cabrio is a Mk3 with a bit of makeup on, I'd look into that first.
