    Hoping someone can help.
My golf mark 4 was cutting out. Garage had it in twice and reset computer after finding a couple of fault codes. This seemed to do the trick but now I have a new problem. The EPC light comes on on the dash board and then it loses power (but doesn't actually cut out).
This has happened twice. The garage have just had it in again to try and deal with this but after reseting the computer again thought they had solved the problem.

Can anyone shed any light on what might be causing this?? I'm reluctant to go back to same garage as they keep taking my money but not actaully fixing the cause of this.

    It's a golf mark 4 1.4 engine.

You need to post the fault codes, otherwise we're just speculating. It sounds like the engine is going into limp mode and could be for a variety of reasons, probably turbo boost related.

The first time round the garage wrote down 4191 EGR and 4584.
When it went in last week for the loss of power they didnt write down the fault codes they found.
Having looked up the problem i'm wondering if its the MAF sensor? The engine will restart after power is lost so read somewhere this means limp mode.
Needless to say it's going back to a different garage next week!

@golfmark4 I wolud like to know if you get this fixed and what caused it as my sister is having the same problem. The garage she took it to say that no fault codes are being logged even though they had the computer pluged in when the light was on!
