hi all i am very new to all this but was told by a friend that this is a good way to talk to people with other problems and knowledge,

so anyway i drive a 2001 golf 1.6 16v SE AZD engine code and my problems first started soon after i brought the car the engine manegment light came on and it was put on a code reader and it came up with the EGR valve but then a couple of months later i had the problem with the idle and it wouldnt idle and kept stalling when i put the clutch in while driving (very annoying) i lived with these problems but before i got time to get these fixed the red oil warning light and the little screen telling me to STOP i my friend looked at it and said it is proberly the oil pump as there is no oil getting to the top of the engine if that isnt bad enough the car started to missfire on number 2 cylinder and worked out the cam belt was out by about 7 teeth so i do not no how much damage it has done to the engine but i do not no where to start or what to do

would it be better to try and source a different AZD engine but i do not have the first idea of where i could get one from

if any one could give me any advise or any information i would be very greatfull

    chris

Thats really strange because my 98' Polo had the same issues

-The problem with stalling when putting the clutch down is an easy job, just ram plently of throttle cleaner down the trottle body and if you want, do what i did and get a cotton bud and clean around the butterfly vavle

-When my Polo was flashing the oil light it was the pump, far too expensive to fix as the car was only worth £500 so she is not a cube in my local scappy! But she went on for ages with the oil light up, strong little engine (not that i would advise driving with it one)

If you have the money id advise getting a recon engine or one you know is a smooth runner (judging by the sounds of the cam belt, i think the damage is done)
