audi a6 c6 2.0 tdi which oil??

mine is a 2006 2.0 tdi. i cant say it smokes..i cant say it doesnt, an instance of black smoke only when over-reving and thats it. so i gues i dont have the variable service thingy. i mean does it matter what brand the oil is as long as it is 5w-30?

nemerkh, from what you say I'd say you've got a 2.0 TDI PD with no DPF on variable servicing.

For this you need ANY oil with the spec VW 506.01 printed on the back. 5w-30 or whatever is irrelevant.

DPF was introduced at different times on various models, I'm just not sure when it was introduced to the A6 range. I don't think it will be a DPF model being 2006 but I could be wrong.

All you need to say is "can you tell me if my car is fitted with a DPF? The registration number is LLNN LLL" (L for letter, N for number) and they'll tell you.

ok guys, called the dealer. they said they use the: Shell Helix 5w-30 fully senthetic longlife oil. thats what ill use from now on

I've got a 55 plate A6 2.0 tdi on variable...get the oil low warning every 500 miles or so to which I add 0.5 litre. Got fed up being fleeced for 5W/30 synthetic from halfords & the dealer ( £15 /litre )..bought 25l of Optima LSV 5w/30 synthetic which meets VW 507 for around £105 on ebay from......

stuff is first class & not only good for tdi's as I've sold it to my mates @ £5/l who drive new petrol TT , A3 quattros & probably a lot more Audi besides

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the 2.0TDi PD engine was non-DPF for manual gearbox cars and DPF for the multitronics.

The new 2.0TDi CR engines are all DPF.

I bet A8 Tech will know chapter and verse, though!

Hi. I phoned Audi just now. My 2006 Audi A6 2.0Tdi S-Line has a DPF fitted.

I asked what oil I should sue / what Audi use.

He said

5W30 Castrol SLX Longlife

BUT

I did a quick google search / Halfords search and found:-
