    Hi

I've a 1996 TDI 110 that's cutting out at random intervals and the rev counter sometimes fluctuates. The car's been scanned and showed a fault with the engine speed sensor.

Has anyone replaced an engine speed sensor on a TDI? It doesn't look the most complicated process in the world, but it anybody can describe the process, it would be appreciated.

Also, how much does one cost? It looks like a dealer only part I think. I'm not going to get a chance to call them until Tuesday to check the price.

    Thanks
    Phil

    Hi Phil,
I have exactly the same problem with my A4 2.6 V6 cutting out and revs fluctuating did you manage to sort it out? If so what was the problem?

    Hi

It was the engine speed sensor. I replaced it and it's been fine ever since.
