I have the 1.6SE Tdi, and yes it does have the coming home and leaving home function. When unlocking the car during poor light the lights should come on at the front and rear, however only when the lights are set to 'Auto'

However, unfortunatley to activate the coming home lights you must briefly flash the indicator stalk to full beam and the coming home lights will be activated for approx 10-15 seconds after the last car door is closed. On the MK5 this would happen automatically with no need to flash the indicator stalk towards you.

    Hope that helps

Thanks will give it a try when the car is back from the dealers ! when for a drive with a technician who thinks he knows where the rattles are coming from, also checking pulley alignment and tensioner. Did try the full beam before switching off the engine iaw the handbook and it did'nt work, will try it again maybe the ignition needs to be off and then try the flasher ? cheers

What ? flash the indicator stalk to full beam.... mine works without doing that. All i do is park up take the keys out of the ignition and the auto lights are on. I do not need to pull any stalks all happens automatically even the interior lighting comes on when I pull the key out.

If the lights are set to auto it should work as described above, every time you unlock the car the lights should come on and vice cersa when coming home.

Yes sorry, the ignition must be off and then activate the coming home by flashing the full beam briefly.

Really?!!! This has to be my biggest annoyance on the car! Even the handbook suggests that you need to flash the headlights once to activate the coming home feature. It works fine when unlocking the car, the lights come on. Also when pulling the key out of the ignition the interior lights come on, however the headlamps dont unless you flash the full beam! I would absolutly love for the lights to work in the way you have described!! Anyone else have it working like this when 'coming home'??

No. When I switch the car off the interior lights come on and the puddle lights come on but to get the headlights to come on to "see you home" you have to flash the main beam. Like you say, the automatic part was dropped from the MK V , which I personally prefer. Nothing worse than every other person saying "Hey mate you've left your lights on" I'm glad I now have the choice.

I just leave the light switch set to Auto and when I pull the key out the lights are on automatically for 15 secs i think as i set it in the highline computer. Never seen a problem with it looks pretty cool to me
