That's a question that I asked myself a lot when I was given the job of selling Phaetons for £60k

I agree excellent 2nd hand buy but i also think people who buy the Pheaton might seem crazy when they could get a S class which has a better badge or a 7 etc all which have more badge appeal in that sector, however i respect someone who did not follow the crowd and buy a S class.

When i see a pheaton on the road a very rare sight its a head turner as people have never seen one before and are intrested the owner gets instant kudos points and respect for taking the risk to buy one and the loss he knows he will make.

BUt who buys a car to save money if you like the pheaton i say respect and up for not following the s class crowd like all the others. If more people buy pheatons brand new the more 2nd hand examples will be on the market so better for us vw fans who can not afford a new one.

I speced up a 4 seat Phaeton long wheelbase W12 in Heliochrom black on the VW DE configurator and got it to €175.286, that’s £155.261.
