    Hoping someone can help here . . . I have a 2002 A3 1.8T with a Concert CD/radio.

    1) The radio is asking for the SAFE code - I put it in correctly and the LCD briefly displays the FM station and then the unit immediately powers off. Previously the unit when in operation would switch itself off and on periodically. Also the AM reception was non-existent. Do these symptoms suggest the unit needs replacing or fixing? Power is good to the unit.

    2) Looking on ebay for a replacement unit. How interchangeable are the various Concert models between the Audi models, ie will an A4 unit fit the A3, etc? Also, does it make a difference between the Concert I and Concert II models in terms of being fitted into the dash?

That's it for now. Thanks in advance for any help provided.

PS. I'm a newbie in this forum so apologies if I've not followed correct protocol.

Concert II will fit, but I think you'll need a blanking plate as it isn't as wide as the Concert I.
Beware of buying a used Concert I as the unit has a known volume control problem.
Every time the volume control is used it saves to the eeprom chip, & after 10,000 adjustments the eeprom is full, & then the volume control stops working correctly.
You can get a brand new Concert I from Stoke Audi on ebay for £85.

Many thanks for the Concert I advice and the ebay link - I should have mentioned - I'm looking for a CD head unit not a cassette one.

    Regards
