    Hey guys,

I was just wondering if anyone has had the experiance of fitting an aftermarket in car bluetooth, like Nokia or Parrott. I have been looking at the nokia CK-100 as its under £100, i'd like to have the audio run through the radio. I have a Mk5 golf with a RCD500 radio.

Is there any alternatives or has anyone had any bad times with any of the items.

Could someone also give me a shopping list for anything i might need.

    Thanks people

i instaled the nokia ck7w but with its own stand alone speaker. easy enough, you just have to locate the switched live which isn't in the supply loom to the radio.

Yeah, i was reading the post that you were helping someone with the install. Someone mentioned that it was a slightly outdated system? Can you run that throught the speakers too?

I fit a lot of OEM stuff but when I'm not fitting OEM kit I fit the Parrot CK3100. It's very good for the money.

Yeah, it's a nice looking system, just not sure if i want the lcd on the dash though. Do you need to connect the car to the vagcom to get it to work through the speakers on the CK3100 or even th Nokia CK-7W?

No, just wire the mute pin from the BT unit to your head unit and the car will automatically mute the radio/wake up the head unit if required.

One word of advice that I can offer is using the line output of the Parrot to the tel+ and tel- on the head unit, the sound will then go through the car's amplifier rather than the built in one on the Parrot which is a bit limp to be honest.

or consider ck3000 - has no lcd just 2 buttons, i mounted mine under dash above ash tray = invisible, and with the correct car harness you get full audio thru the speakers and radio mute,

recommend professional install, mk5 side pillar airbags are a no go for me 8-/

i installed a Parrot MKi9100 into mine. Full audio through the speakers, and the stereo says mute when the parrot is active. Very good, voice dialling, and the ability to plug an ipod/mp3 player in since, good considering i have the bog standard CD player. mounted the screen just under the stereo.

SOT-976 you need, bit nerdy i know. needs adapting slightly to get the stereo to say phone. and i took switched ignition from the fag lighter, although i'm thinking of changing that to the ignition relay, which lives when the stereo does, rather than just when the ignition is on.

dunno if any of that helps.

Thanks for that, seems a bit pricey, if i can get it for less then £100 I'd be happy with that only because i like a bargain. i'm happy installing it myself, with a little help with the wiring, Don't think I'll take it from the relay to be honest though, my radio is pretty much always on.

Did you say you can plug an ipod directly into the unit, How does this work with playing it through the stereo. i have the Ipod adaptor in my golf but fed up of not having full control of the ipod itself.

    Thanks
    Dan

They are quite pricey, but IMO worth it. wiring as i said's a bit tricky, but achievable with a bit of guidance. The cig lighter ignition, switches on and off with the third notch on the key.

The unit has a bundle of wires that i've fed into the glove box, with a 3.5mm jack (headphones socket), usb (for memory pens) and an ipod specific port. then u get full control for the ipod and some/most usb pens from the parrot controller.
