I have £9K to spend so am looking through Autotrader at BMW 530d's and Audi A6 diesels. The Audis for that money are newer with lower mileage but less powerfull than the BM's.

They both have sat nav and good levels of trim.

So which would you go for?

    Audi obviously.

That way you don't have people calling you a b(w)anker behind your back all the time.

Personally I think Audis have a nicer interior.

Audi is cheaper to fix and service and has nicer styling. BMW is a better car in so far as road handling.

I looked at a few bmw's 3 series and 5 series before going with the audi A6. The BMW does look like a good car bu the interior its so off the boil when compared to Audi. Think most of the detailing went to the outside of the car which you either like or dislike. Saw an older pre facelift BMW and it looks so old comared to the new one.
Anyways although the BMW may be the better car in regards to handling there really isnt much in it - It may feel more planted on the road as you approach the limit but who pushes their car to the limit all the time? Like the softer suspension in the audi and appreciate the interior as it feels like its unburstable. Like it will last the distance. I hope it does as I am planning on keeping the car for 6 years at least maybe even more if it stands the test of time. I didnt go for the 3 litre stuck with the 2.7 as prefer a manual no auto to go wrong, and the manuals seem to give a better economy. You need to take both for a drive and see what you think - what car would you be happy with most of the time, just not when you are pushing on.
