Sharan speedo

I have just bought a 02 sharan which has a dodgy speedo. When I am doing 30mph it reads above 40 & when I do 80mph it reads above 120. Any ideas ?? Regards John.

John, do you have aftermarket wheels fitted?

And does the speedo read zero whilst stationary?

Are you sure it's not mixing up kph with mph? 30 mph = about 48kph, 50 mph = 80 kph, 70 mph = about 112kph, 80 would be 120 kph.

Are you talking about the digital speedo in the dial? That's always in kph.

I do suspect that the dash is coded to read in k/p/h but the dial reads in m/p/h. Would this be an easy fix ??
