My car has been eating front tyres (6 in just over a year at £170 each!!!) crunches as i pull away in 1st and 2nd and bumps slightly when moving after letting off the accelerator. It also crashes and bangs on bumpy street roads. It used to be quite smooth. I had my suspension checked and all is fine there so must be something else.

I've had a persistent fault code saying "engine mount valve" but I'm not sure which one it is, or how to check. Can anybody tell me if there is a way i can self check which mount is dodgy?

Also what's involved in replacing an engine mount and what's the cost?

    Cheers,

    Mark

I had to replace both of my engine mounts on my 1.9TDI. From replacing them with new ones, it will prevent the engine from vibrating otherwise you would cause more damage to the engine, if not replaced.

It cost me £189 inc labour and parts, and these were genuwine one's.

Thanks, that's not too bad really. Thought there would be quite a lot of work involved and at least £200 in labour costs! Did you have similar symptoms before replacing the mounts?

Yeah, there not too expensive to get them replaced. Basically my car use to vibrate alot when changing gears in low speeds. So I got them replaced with new ones straight away, nothing came up on vag-com. Was told when the car went for an M.O.T..
