I suspect that this is just an error however I have just checked the MOT details online with the DVLA at http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/html/home.html for a car that I am about to buy and the last MOT notes a change in fuel from Diesel to Petrol.

The car is registered with the DVLA as being Diesel and the engine in the car is Diesel.

I suspect that this was just a mistake when the last MOT certificate was registered however it got me thinking, is there anyway to check with the DVLA if a car has ever had its engine changed?

    Cheers
    Nathan

It was built with an AVF diesel engine so the original petrol fuel type entry must have been a mistake.
