    Hi all, i have an old 91 t4 camper 1.9d and the fuel and temp gauges have died. i have read all the info on line on how to fix this problem and re solderd the connections but while doing this i lost the voltage regulator from the back of the dash lol.where can i get a replacement the regulator said tca 700y on it. maybe maplin or somewhere.any help would be of great help

    I think you mean you lost the voltage stabilizer not regulator. Because auto gauges are voltage sensitive as the voltage can range from 12 to 14.5 voltage you have to regulate the voltage going to the gauges otherwise you will get in acurate readings.

    Anyway how can you loose it?

    LOL Took off the stabilizer/regulator on the back of the dash to re solder craked joints as that seems to be the most common fix.Then either the dog or the kids chewed stamped on it.

    I wouldn't have thought that Maplins would have been a great deal of help unless you have the part number. Voltable stabilizers have a constant voltage of 10v. You could go to any scrap yard and take one of any car and it should work. I'm an old mechanic and these are the values from old cars, I'm not sure if they have changes that much, I wouldn't have thought so.

    I thought 3 months lead time for a car built to spec' was more or less standard - my wifes last two new cars were anyway (Fraud Focus, then the present VW Polo). At least with the fall back to January your car will then be 2010 !

    The voltage stabiliser can be bought at the dealers for a few quid
