    Hi all
I have just found this forum and am very impressed. I do hope there is some one who has come across this problem, I have a VW Lt 28 that was brought in with a flat battery after I charged the battery it failed to start the only fault code I could find was immobiliser key recognition I cleared that, now the engine will fire and run for about 2 seconds and then stop any help would be very much appreciated. Regards Brian

This is an Immobiliser fault.Allows it to start for a couple of seconds and cut-out engine. The key needs to be re-learn`t to the Immob.A 10 minute job with the computer.

Unless you know of someone with a Computer for VW,or some locksmiths that do car key codes, they will do it,for a fee.Needs to be reprogrammed.Have you checked using your spare key? That should still work.It doesnt take long to do.

Hi I have tried the spare key and that doesn't work I have managed to read fault codes from the immobiliser and the only code there was incorrect key. I cleared that fault and it has not returned, but I cant read the engine codes this is unusual for Vw as my Launch reader is usually very good but having said that I am a Transmission rebuilder and do not normally work on vans. any ideas!
    Many Thanks Brian

Hi,yes you should also get Engine Electronics too.Check the Diagnostic Plug for any Pins that may have been bent over,or pushed out of plug and not making contact. Also check all fuses in Column `Box and under drivers seat. Not all holders have a fuse in mind ! I take it you have Ignition Lamps and are able to Crank the Engine?

Yes the ignition lights all work and the engine cranks I have had to use an adaptor to connect the EOBD to the round DLC on the vehicle I did wonder if there was a inconsistency in the connection but all seems ok and the pins seem fine. Perhaps the ECU is getting no power .do you know which fuse supplies it or where its feed from. Thanks Brian

Sorry Brian,i cant recall exactly which fuse. But also inspect relays under drivers seat as there will be a one for Engine electrics.I`m sure they`re all similar in part number and Pin Assignments. What is the history of this vehicle prior to coming into your workshop?

    Hi Alan
The vehicle was brought to me with a flat battery I was asked to charge the battery and get it started I don't know if the the battery had gone flat (lights on ect ) or the driver had flaterned it in an attempt to start it the key warning light was on so I connected up the fault code reader and cleared the key faults however i could not access the engine electronics .I have checked all the wiring I can get at and I have removed the plunger from the solenoid on the injector pump to rule that out It now seems the fault must be the ecu its self (and I don't know where that is) or there is no power to it. I think its time to get hold of a wiring diagram.[Any suggestions). Many thanks for your help
