A question about the suspension on the GT. A standard GT has the suspension lowered by 15mm. If the Adaptive Chassis Control option is fitted to the car. Does the road height now revert back to the normal road height of a standard golf i.e SE or is it still 15mm lower?

    Does anyone know??

I think the adaptive chassis control only tightens (or softens) the shock absorber damping rate.

Yes, as stated above - it just changes the damper settings, and does not alter the ride height - Citroen stylee.

    !
Too right. I wish I'd spec'd ACC in my GT. I do find lowering my seat helps, but it's always bad if I'm a passenger.

I know Its shocking but I am not blaming VW for this I blame the roads we all know the UK has some of the poorest roads in Europe, these cars have be designed in Germany where there roads are smooth like silk. Not made for Yorkshire !

Moe360 - my SE with Seattles/sports suspension is being built next week. Now you tell me the ride is harsh !!!

Only kidding - if GTI owners can cope with lower / harder still and 18s i'm sure mine will be fine !!

The GT TDI I test drove had 18's on it and felt a smoother ride than my TDCI Focus with 17's.

It doesn't help as much as you would think.

The problem is that the spring rates are still the same, only the damping changes. It means that in 'comfort' mode, abrupt road surface imperfections such as motorway joints or potholes don't get smoothed out at all. They should have made the springing softer, then the ACC would have been far more effective.

With hindsight, I would have got the SE.
