Hi, does anyone know of a decent place in somerset / dorset that can do 4 wheel alignment on my 1.8T quattro s-line, the fronts are wearing on the inner edges, i could travel to micheldever service station in andover area if anyone recommends them, as my brother lives up that way.

What do you think of the vredestein tyres, i am thinking of getting a set on the quattro.

Is Wiltshire too far? Imperial Tyres in Swindon that does a really good job of alignment / balancing.

Can't help with the Vredesteins I'm afraid (though they make some pretty handy mountain bike tyres, if that's any help )

Cant help on the somerset area but the vredestein tyres are very good, do you have a price for them? the website below has good review on loads of tyres.

I am suprised you need 4 wheel alignment if only the fronts are worn on the inner edges Check with a tyre fitting company first as the cost for 4 wheel alignment is very expensive. hope that helps..

Hi, thanks for the feedback, yeah, i might get away with just having the front tracking done as it's only the fronts that are wearing unevenly. I just thought that the quattro system needed 4 wheel tracking. A localish company (quattro specialist in ilminster, somerset) have quoted £95 plus vat for 4 wheel alignment using a german jig, they charge extra if your bolts are seized and take time to adjust, this does sound quite dear, but i know you lot will let me know!!!!!!!! Anywhere in bristol/ bath /keynsham any one can recommend.

Go up to Mitcheldever and haggle. I went to our local protyre (mitchelever) and got a 4 wheel alignment for 60+vat.

Bit of a later reply but vredesteins are decent (had 3 pairs now) but if you're unsure of them you can get goodyear eagle F1's for same price. If you do get vredesteins take care in the snow as the big treads fill up and turn your tyres into ice skates which can cost you £2k in repairs (just in my experience haha) but theyre very good in the wet and even better in the dry.

Right, had the 4 wheel alignment done, all ok except they could not get the front left wheel in tollerance, they say its 0.4 degrees out (camber), they say it may be a slightly bent top suspension arm or the hub slightly bent, do you think 0.4 degrees is worth worrying about?

Was it inside or outside of the thresholds?
Mine are both slightly outside the mfr tolerances at the front (but just about exactly equally) so they adjusted them up to be level so the tyre wear was uniform. They commented that for 5 years and 60k miles with the size wheels I have and the fact the roads are **** poor, it was about right and that it would be bushes and general wear and tear on mine......to get them back bang on would take methodical replacement of bits from cheapest to most expensive....their advice - leave it.

    Cheers,
    Dan.
