    Evening all,

Crasher Block 11 was done on a flat road with the car warm.

excuse the stupidity but Whats WOT?

    kenney,

I see what you mean, i'm sure all the screen shots were done with the engine warm.

Didn't realise full load was up a hill with some good throttle. Would it help if i went and did that ?

    Matt

    Right,

    checking timing belt now,

    WOT = Wide open throttle

I will do the belt and then check out the 3rd gear drive

    as requested

Car warm, going up a hill, starting at 2k in third gear, WOT and taking a screen shot at 3k.

    t
there's £50 to who ever can guess the problem !! haha

    Also checked the timing belt

My brother read the thread and said that he used the method described by crasher. 100%

So last night we locked the crank with the proper tool and then were able to side a 6mm drill bit (as told by Mr Haynes and Audi) into the top sproket. (left lower hole, checked with Haynes) and it went straight in.

Starting to wonder if an injector could have been damaged when the head was either in transit or at the machine shop if they put it face down?

But two weeks ago i had the head removed (due to a broken glow plug) had the glow plug removed and threads cleaned.

Head then refitted with new head gasket and cam belt.

This was all done by my GF's brother who is an ex audi mechanic who qualfied a couple of years ago (so figured it was safe hands)

It ran alright after the work was done, no hot starting issues. But i swear it still coughed occasionally on cold startup.

I did mention it before, but this thread is getting rather long winded

I went to change the glow plugs because of the slightly rough start up on occasions (i.e needing a bit of gas and turning over abit longer) however the outer casing of one snapped but the plug didnt drop into the engine etc.

Head was taken off and taken to the machine shop for them to remove the plug and tidy the threads up with a tap.

Wondering whether i should take out the injectors to see if one of them has been damaged??

Or is it possible to Log the quantity of fuel being injected and identify an under performing injector?

Nothing wrong with the values in your last diagram.Your problem is similar to a fault i had with 2 vehicles not very long ago. There are 2 new readings you need to do in MB 13 +18.First reading, with the engine cold,as soon as the engine fires up,take the reading in 13 + 18. Second reading, warm engine, let the engine stand and cool down for about 10 mins, restart, and again as soon as the engine fires up take a reading in MB 13 + 18

A couple of points about removing PD injectors, first they are a sod to remove without the special slider hammer and once removed the seals must be replaced and they are installed with special guides to prevent damage. Re-fitting them involves very precise alignment to a tolerance of +/-0.8-mm using a very big set of expensive verniers and they must be torqued down very carefully to spec using new bolts. If damaged they are at least £200 each for cheap ones and over £450 each from VW.
