i dont personally, but a friend of a friend has one, taking it around to his on monday night but i dont think he's had it very long.

Im tempted to get one myself, as the lass has bough an a4 and id like to retro fit cruise.

.... but this hot starting problem is really getting to me.

Tried bumping it last night, it didnt want to start, however when we did it down a hill it chugged for a few seconds 3-5 seconds and then started...

    starter motor?

I can’t recommend you play with such in depth features without some experience, it is a safer gamble to just fit a new starter and see what happens.

    thanks crasher,

i'll have to try the starter motor and see what happens...

    is that the usual suspect?

...if the starter doesnt work i'll be bringing it to you crasher if you can fit me in next week ?

    Hi Crasher,

Three weeks is going to be difficult for me, With needing the car for work and all.

I think all i'd really be after is the diagnosing, if it was the fuel pump/starter motor i could get that changed easy enough by myself or my brother (ex audi mechanic)

Could you fit me in any sooner if you just did the diagnosing?

..however if it was an injector, are they just a straight swap or do they need setting up?

    Plan is:

    - Tonight hook up to mates VAGCOM, test cranking speed. - Disconnect injector wiring, VAGCOM- Engine electronic, measured value block 1 ?

    - Heard i can also clamp the fuel return. Turn the engine off (quickly) and then try starting it. (with the idea of keeping the fuel pressure up)

Hopefully these should shed some light on the starter or fuel pump. But after that i'd be stuck at to what else it could be !

Give Roy or John in the office a bell on 01159785740 and see if they can get you in sooner.

yeh i was but i havnt got the money at tho moment.. i have changed my engine as the other one was down on compression and when i removed the head the pistons had hammer marks in them so looks as if it has been siezed before i bought it then they have freed it off and sold it.. but i found a engine with only 40k onit had been put it for scrappage the car was like new felt guilty taking it out :P but this engine is the same when its warm wont have it it always starts jus takes a bit of turning over compared to when its cold i tryed to fit the startermotor from my new engine but it was from a automatic so it wouldnt fit think they are different? think it might be the starter motor though as i put a new cambelt ect on it so its al timed up right..
with out dissapointment you cant appreciate victory
