ESP light will not come on

I have an problem that my ESP light will not come on in test when you first start the vehicle or if you press the ESP button. I know the indicator light is an led is it possible that its bad or something telling the computer it doesn't have ESP. I have a 2004 A4.

I think I have a similar problem in that the ESP button on the dash will not light up, and the warning symbol for ESP and the ESP on the speedo which should come on/go out when turning on ignition have been taped over! Audi say that after testing, the ESP works (can turn on/off) - trouble is I don't know when it's on or off.

when u start car its on
if u turn it off then when u next start the car its on
or quick way to check it works floor the car in 1st if it spins the wheels it dont work if its dont spin the wheels its workin
