    Default Squeaking/Screeching noise from Rear Wheels – 12-11-2009,01:33 PM
    Hi Folks, ive a 2003 TDI Bora and sometimes im hearing a screeching noise coming from what sounds like my rear wheels the noise goes away when i touch the brakes then returns again also when i go over ramps no matter how slow i can hear it again. This happens twice or three times a day lasting 10/15 mins each time then it goes away again. Would anyone have any ideas what this is i was thinking maybe the wheel bearings.

    Not the wheel bearings,sounds more like some thing with the brake pads

    Since asbestos was banned in brake pads, they contain bits of metal swarf. It is probably one of these bits that is squeaking. It will carry on until the pad/swarf wears down a bit more.

    get your pads checked out, it could also be a sticky calliper. TBH you shouldn't just wait and see and brake failure is not nice
