I am concerned that my A4 1.8 auto on a 99 plate has got a sponge in the petrol tank.
We have 2 cars my wife drives the Audi and I have a BMW coupe 1.9 manual
My car can do nearly 400 miles on a full tank but the Audi I'd be lucky if I get 300!
My drive is mostly motorway and hers is town.
What sort of mileage should I expect from the Audi

That should explain it. 300 miles in the city means you get about 20mpg, which sounds about right. 400 on the motorway is about 30mpg. Which again sounds about right.

Swap cars and you'll get the figures the other way around.

well i've got a 2.4 and drive mainly fast A-roads with the occasional town trip. I'm averaging around 27mpg which for a 1800kg car i'm not gonna complain too much.
