I've been doing some searching on timing belt kits for my 2001 AKN 2.5D A6 as I don't trust the history that it was done 10k ago.

One supplier is showing a kit at around £70 (marked 87 teeth), but they also have a one at £320 (marked 207 teeth).

Another is showing a kit (p/n: 059198119B) for £150 that seems to have two belts in the kit already.

    So, two questions:

    1) Does the car have two timing belts?

    2) On a wider note, what else would be a recommended change once the front is off the car? Normally I would do the water pump with the timing belt but from what I've seen it might be a good idea to change the thermostat, water pump, the chain on the oil pump, and possibly the sprocket/follower for this chain.

Any suggestions/help? The car is just coming up on 80,000 miles.
    Thanks.

There is one timing belt, one fuel injection pump belt (the cheaper one) and then auxiliary belts for charging and air-con. It is very wise to do the water-pump and maybe thermostat too.

Service postion bolts, Belts 2 toothed. Belt tensioner, for both belts, Water pump and pre-tested thermostat. Locking tools Vag-com to dynamically time the injector pump, a special tool for adjusting the pump timing/tension, a workshop Manual and 2 spare days and a box of plasters for cuts and bruisers. Why do you think the belt has not been changed. Regards Peter
