    Hi guys,

I was wondering if any one might help me.

I have a 1.4 16v 2000 (W) Golf. I have been having a few issues with my car and the garage I took it to. My car was diagnosed as needing a new oil pump after being told that there was very little oil pressure. The guy fixing the car told me that it would be 'as good as new' once this was done. To cut a long story short, it didn't work and was told it would need a new engine. I've manged to get out of paying the £344 for the pump after a discussion with the garage and trading standards which I do feel a little guilty about.

Anyway, my question is, how much would my car be worth as a non runner? I don't want to spend the money on getting a new / used engine and would rather cut my losses and get myself a newer car.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Rach.

Not worth a great deal unfortunately, I have seen Golf 4’s and Boras slightly newer than yours being scrapped recently due to engine problems being more to fix than the car is worth. About the single most valuable item on you car is the gearbox as they are in great demand due to them being very prone to failure.

My friend who runs a VAG breakers says it is worth about £300, ironically the gearbox could fetch £400 alone.
