Can anyone help me with my problem.

I could previously adjust the back of my seat forward but now its only working on and off. The worse thing is I am not able to recline at all thus seat angle is nearly at 90 degree.

I searched and read it could be a stuck gear thus tried banging and pulling on the seat without any luck. Checked the gears and motor and they look fine. Does anyone know how to remove the side cover on the seat so I can check the switches?

Anyone ideas what the problem could be? Dead motor or bad connection somewhere?

    Thanks

    J

Is your seat a memory seat or non memory?

Have you checked it with vagcom?

Take the back cover off and you will see the motor for the back - remove the power connector and apply a 12v source to the larger 2 contacts (depending on whether you want it to go forward or back depends on which contact you attacht he +ve to), it should move. You can also use a wrench of some sort to manually move the bar that goes through the motor gear system - I could on mine at least (a4 2003 cab)

Also please let us know model and year as otherwise it is almost impossible to help.

    Hope this helps,

    Walter.

I managed to locate and fixed the seat problem over the weekend.

There was a short in the circuit for the recline switch. I cleaned up the short which was soldered and tested for connectivity.
