I have an Audi A4 3.2FSI Quattro (2006) and currently use standard unleaded fuel (Ron 95). Would I notice any extra benefit using Super Unleaded (Ron 99 or higher) in power and/or fuel consumption?
    Thanks
    Allan

I used it occassional when i had my Civic Type R and didnt notice a thing.

I know people say that you do, but i think its a load of cr@p. It might be more beneficial to the condition of the car etc, but noticing a difference when driving - nah ...........

Your FSI engine should be fed 98RON or higher.

Lower than this will make the car run with a reduced power output.

Shark is right- I always used Shell V-Power, once I had to use regular as the V-Power had run out and I could notice the reduction in power, felt a bit more sluggish.

Hey there im still new to the car game so this is what i have noticed.

My first car was a corsa 1.2sxi 03, i used the regular fuel all the time in it, then i noticed shell v-power, started using in and noticed a difference. the car felt more lively (i know its only a 1.2 lol) and more responsive, also i noticed better fuel consumption by up to 70 miles from a full tank.
when i came off it the car felt sluggish like the guys said above, even with Bp ultimate its was not as good as the V-power.

Now i have a 2.0tdi a4 S line and i used the V-power diesel and yet again noticed a better power output but the fuel consumption was a bit iffy, but could be because i was booting it about with its extra vooom!.

Hope this helps a bit even tho im still a pretty inexperienced driver.

I only ever used V-Power in a old BMW E39 (5-Series)... Never noticed any difference in MPG but it did feel smoother and more lively.

I have used V-Power Diesel in the Passat once after it was re-mapped but never noticed a difference

best way to find out is to try it. ive tried a couple of tankfuls of the v power, super or ultimate in every car ive ever had, and only felt any noticable difference on 3 of them. i felt a slight improvement my old saab 9000 turbo, my insignia 2.0 cdti but not enough to warrant the difference in price, and on my a4 1.8t the difference between regular and ultimate is very noticable. 2 mpg more, smoother and pulls harder from lower down, so you dont need to downshift as often. even my wife, who is oblivious to the way a car drives could feel the difference in that car so thats all we use in it now, but we still put regular in the clk and the insignia.

Normally if a car requires 98 or above its because it will have a higher compression ratio of 10 or more.

if you have a car designed to run on standard 95 it will normally have a lower compresion ratio say 8.5 - 9, and putting 98ron in these is just a waste as will make no difference.

if you use 95 in a higher compression car it will "pink" or "Knock", but modern engine management systems can compensate for this by altering timing and ignition settings etc, and reduced power is a consequence.

mot sure how ecconomy is affected tho.
