Hi, I am new to this forum and have a bit of a problem with my 3dr 2.0 1999 mk4 golf gti.

When i unlock the car (press the remote locking fob twice) the passenger side door will not open from either the inside or outside.

on the outside i can't get the key in as the barrel must have seized due to lack of use and on the inside when i go to open the door handle, which should pop up the locking post, the locking post just springs back down.

I am assuming the locking mechanisim has either seized in the lock position or the solinoid has failed and left the lock in a dead lock position.

I managed to remove the door card which allows me to look in the space between the glass and the inner door panel so i can see the locking mechanism, i have tried yanking at the various parts in the machanism but will not release the door.

Does anybody know if the deadlock can be released using a a hook of some sort? or does anybody have a diagram on how the locking unit works so i can try to free off the seized part?

I have searched through various threads but could not find anyone with the same problem as my self.

    Got it open ,
I thumped the door with my hand where the lock post is and pressed the fob at the same time and it opened. it seems to be working ok now but will probably get a new solinoid assembly to be on the safe side. Thanks for the help.
