oil pump

hi folks,

iv got the oil warning light on the dash and had the senor replaced, light went out for about 20miles then re-appeared.

searching the forums iv found the bonnet switch could be faulty but this cant be case on my car since the sensor has been replaced and the light came back on.

next step is to replace the oil pump.

any1 know how much the pump is on a b6 2.0 se 51 plate?

if you want to check the bonnet catch swith...disconnect the connecter and get a paper clip and bridge the wires together going to the car. this will act as if the bonnet is closed and stop the light from coming on. its a good thing to check as has mislead alot of people to think there is a problem with the oil pressure

the fault sumtimes being that the oil light dosent reset itself if there is an open circuit (bonnet always being open) and constantly comes on.

best illimunate the cheap option first

if the oil pump is faulty it will be due to possibly the strainer blocked and a simple oil pressure test will tell you that.
