Whats wrong with a lever by your left hand thats served us well for years ?
Im only moaning about the handbrake because a couple of times randomly it has'nt released when I expected it too...very embarrasing!
At least with a handbrake lever you get a feel for whats happening.
The rest of the car is superb, I love that reasuring Thunk as the doors close, Lets you know what ever journey you throw at it, its on top of the job

This is my 3rd Passat - previous being B5.5 130 TDi Trendline Est (4 yrs) and, before that, a B5 110 TDi SE saloon (4 yrs). The B6 is a great looker, that drives well, maybe better than the B5s. I love the DSG, especially with the Auto Hold/Parking Brake combo. Seats are just right for me (unlike some here). Instruments have always been good (I have matched my TomTom night colours to blue/red also). Great load carrier too, only bettered by (say) a V70. Also therefore, great value - a lot of car for your money. So far, (one year) I would say potentially the B5 was the most reliable, but I have a few years to go yet.......

I'll not mention the "don't likes" until JTW starts another thread........

Much better value for money than the A4s that all the sheep I work with want on their drives for the badge - consequently I got more toys with it. Oh, and it's bigger than an A4 too, more leg room and my estate swallows everything including 4 people and 4 bikes at a squeeze, 3 + 3 routinely for family cycling trips. The long wheelbase makes it super-stable at speed, it's a fantastic motorway cruiser with plenty of power. I'm at 53,000 miles now and the engine is really loosening up, it just goes on getting better and better. Have had no problems, no rattles, only the rear tyre wear issue, which VW have now sorted. I get on fine with the brake. All in all an excellent car for what I need.

If you mean a B6 Body with B5 Mechanicals, No!, from what I remember of the B5 s I've had, I think the B6 is leap ahead in driving experiance, comfort and handling

I Love 99% of my Passat, especially the Chrome around the grill and windows, really sticks out as the car is in black.
Also like the usual stuff such as dash, Economy, big fuel tank, interior comfort, size/space, design of the back lights; they look LED.
I'm also use to the electronic (finger) brake

1% dislike for this car??? Difficult to reverse park as I can't see the BIG long boot. I'm sure parking sensors would have helped

I went from a B5 Petrol Sports to B6 SEL and think it is a real leap forward.
    - Alcantara and heated seats are great, specially in the winter.
    - Performance is good on the 170 SEL.
    - Love the handbrake, now! Who would want an old fashion lever thingy after using the button?
    - Looks and handles great.
    - Automatic boot opening is handy, specially when you hands are full.
    - Coming home lights - you can spot your car in the car park.
    - Automatic wipers are cool, can't remember the last time I actually had to adjust the wipers.

Had a few minor niggles when I first got the car, but those were sorted out once a found a competent dealer and had 14,000 miles of trouble free driving over the last 14 months, including a 5 hour non-stop trip to cornwall where the car averaged 52 mpg. Couldn't ask for anything else.

Only thing I wish were standard is multi-function steering wheel. Retrofitting is £expensive, but something I use all the time on my wife's car. Auto-hold would have been nice too.

Get yourself some Meta Targa rear parking sensors - easy to fit, no drilling, unobtrusive and they work.
