    Hello
Anybody care to spend 30 seconds looking at their own Passat and replying? Ta muchly!

I moved from a B5 Passat Estate to a B6 R-Line Passat Saloon in September and it's been back to the garage for rather more warranty work than I expected. In fact I've been back to the garage more times in 2 months than I'd been in the previous 3 years.
When it went in to have the doors refitted and the paintwork touched up as a result (yes... both front doors scraped the sills when opened past half way), I reported that the rubberwork wasn't right.

When I open the front passenger door, it reveals the front edge of the rear left door.
The top half of the front edge of the rear door is shrouded in some serious rubber.
The bottom edge had an ill-fitting rubber sleeve that was sliding down the rear door.
I decided to look at the driver's side. I opened the driver's door to see the front edge of the rear right door.
The bottom half of the front edge was naked - just painted metal.
Two doors. Two different amounts of rubber. Obviously not right.

I'd like to find out from you what you see on the BOTTOM HALF of the front edge of your rear doors when you open the front doors and look at what is revealed.

It's barking mad, I know, but please help, so that I can march back to my dealer with a clear view about what SHOULD be on show!
All he did was remove the rubber from the left door so both doors are naked from the waist down. Is that really how it should be?

Here's a photo of the piece of the car I'm referring to (the white arrow is on the photo, I didn't paint the car just for the photo!)

Thanks for that. Begs the question of why there was a piece of ill-fitting rubber hanging there on one of the two doors, but thanks for looking - I appreciate it.

    Sorry posted before I finished

The part of the front door that overlaps the rear door has a gasket to seal between the two which is attached to the inside of the front door, If that makes sence. But at the top where the window frame is, the larger rubber has to fill the gap between the two doors when they are shut as they dont overlap.
I think all these do is smooth airflow between the doors as the doors sit in much heavier rubber in the frames

Thanks John. Yes, I can see there is a soft rubber gasket that seals the front door against the B pillar, but it does that over the full height of the door. It seems to be something to do with the shape of the rear door at its leading edge in the window half of the door, but if you've confirmed that you have nothing on the bottom half, that's fine by me. I was a bit concerned that the metal of trailing edge of the front door is *very* close to the leading edge of the back door! It's obviously not a problem, or to paraphrase my local dealer "no, they're all like that sir"
    Regards
    Derek
