Kindly don’t treat this post as a joke, I know I am asking a very basic question, but I am stuck on this. I can’t get the top black engine cover off from the engine bay to fit a new air-filter on my 2003 SEAT Cordoba 1.4 16V Petrol.
I tried undoing around 8 screws from the underneath of the compartment, but I couldn’t get the cover.
Can anyone please guide me on getting this black top cover off to replace the air-filter?
I am a novice on the area of doing ‘your own car maintenance’, so plz help.
    Thanks,
    Nash

If it's anything like the 1.0 Polo I have experience of (and having just looked at the diagram on VAGCAT it probably is of a similar type) then you might find that if you disconnect any hoses from the plastic cover and just give it a hard pull, that it may just pop off, as it might just be held by push in clips!
