Are you sure they are bulbs not LED's.
Carefully remove both caps on left and right at high-level brake light Remove the Screws Press the retainer tabs and take high-level brake light out of body opening.Unplug connector.InstallingInstall in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
    Note

Just had a initial try using a tiny instrument screwdriver to carefully prise the caps covering the screws, without success. I can see that these will easily damage. Do you have any advice as to how best to remove these caps to avoid damage? Is a knife blade better? or is best to prise from a particular position? Thanks in anticipation. Peter

Having successfully removed the light bar and checked for voltage to the device when brake lights are operating; the is voltage zero so the cause of failure must be a broken wire rather than a failed light bar.

I understand that these wires can break in the rubber boot between the hatch door and roof, but which side do these particular wires run down and where do the connect to. I would be grateful for any advice and tips to take this further. Thank you Peter

Thanks Peter; do you know the route for this pair of wires? Do they perhaps pick up from the off side rear light cluster? Regards Peter
