I pick up my new Golf 1.4 TSI after four long months of waiting. I'm a keen mountain biker and have no intention of putting my muddy bike in the back so i'm after a bike rack. This one seems to fit what looks like an 08 Golf. Do you lot think the spoiler on the new one is much different? Thats seemingly the only part that pressure would be applied.
    Cheers

I need one to but dont like the idea of not being able to open the boot so I'm going for the roof bar arrangement which works out about £120 for the Thule roof bars and £60 for each bike carrier.

Given i've nowseen 2 new Golfs in VW showrroms with dints in the tailgate metal skin, i'd be very wary of using any form of rack or attachment that places a frame against it. Roof bars whilst not the most convenient for loading etc are a safer option.

    I've used this:

    To get this:

And there are no dents following a 400mile drive each to cornwall and back.

However, you can't open the boot with the bikes on....
