Hello there. I've just posted talking about miss-fireing at low revs. it is mostly in 1st and 2nd. Does it kick in when you put your foot down, and lose power, then kick in again, then lose power? If so, we're in the same canoe my friend.

Yes spluttering is the right way to describe it. I happens in all gears though at low revs. eg. put your foot down in 4th at 30mph, it just splutters. I'm so fed up, i'm thinking about scrapping it!

i know it sounds daft, but have you checked your plugs? if its been serviced recently, chances are they have been put in the wrong way? this apparently is easy to do..... just with it 'spluttering' sounds as if its not firing properly?other than that, take it back to where you had it serviced, tell them its demonstrating these faults and it should be up to them to sort it out, if it wasnt doing it before it went in for the service and its now doing it after having been in for a service....simple logic dictates really

I got fed up of the problem and in the end money was no object so I took it to the VW garage and said, 'just fix it!' 'I don't care what it costs, just fix it'. Got a phone call half an hour later, 'Its your spark plug leads, and while we're at it, might as well give your throttle body a clean', so they did, and its sorted. 200 quid, bargain :-)
