    Hi all

    Just purchased a new to me b6 passat estate.

    The car had a fresh timing belt kit, and brake pads put onto it before I bought it.

    The problem being is that the DIS is showing the brake pad wear indication still, and also reads 'ACC START’

    Are the 2 message related? What's the best way to clear them?

    Thanks

    You need to check the plugs on the brake pad wires, acc stands for for adaptive cruise control

    Thanks for the reply.

    The guy I bought it off is a mechanic, and he told me that he had checked the brake pad wear sensors, jumping them, but it would not go out. He did not have any VCDS, so could this be cleared, or at least isolated via VCDS ?

    With regards to the acc message, would it be possible that the cruise control button has been pressed, but not set? Rather than being a fault ?

    I don't think the B6 ever came with ACC. Could you take a picture of the message?

    The brake pad indicator can be disabled with VCDS.

    If the pads are new then it's a fault in the wiring either near the wheel or further back where the plugs go into the car behind the wheel lining. You should be able to reset the ACC with the cruise stalk

    @Chris

    I haven't actually picked the car up yet, but will post a pic up as soon as I do.

    @Doctle Odd

    The seller jumped the cables, and the light didn't go out. Or at least thats what he told me. I will have a look at that whenever I get it !

    thanks

    lol

    He was quite open about the fact that he didn't have any access to diagnostic equipment, and when I say mechanic, he wand his father had premises at the side of the family home, and worked from it.

    You don't need diagnostic equipment to put out this light only basic knowledge, a circuit tester and a little time. The country is full of those cars I'd be inclined to let it be someone else's trouble
