I purchased my A4 Avant Sline not so long ago with 70k on the clock . Its getting close to 90k on the clock and wondered if it gets close to or over the 100k, will it lose a lot of its money? Should I sell it soon? I paid about 14000.00

I`m sure when you bought it you where aware of the high mieage,so it shouldn`t really bother you now.If its taken care of,look forward to a few more 100K`s.Even at the mileage you bought it at,a dealer would cosider it too high!

Which engine is it? To be fair I think you will have lost a fair bit by now anyway just due to the market, I don't think it's cost effective to sell so soon, plus you'd probably have to put more money to it.

As said as long it's serviced regularly, maintenance kept up it should run way past 100k, how long did you plan to keep it for when you bought it?

If you are planning to sell privately; I think it's down to a buyer's personal preference.

I personally am not put off my 100k+ cars (I've had three so far with little trouble). But thats me.. some people wont touch a car one its passed the 100k mark.

If you are selling to a dealer.. they will tell you that over 100k massively devalues the car.. then go onto convince the person that they are selling to that it's nothing to worry about and shouldn't affect the price!

I maintain this golden rule: When you know a car is reliable with no intermittent faults; that knowledge is priceless. If you are sincerely happy with the car; consider keeping it for a long time.. it's one of the ways to get real value out of a vehicle... keep it for a long time!

I agree with Toff on that! My old B5 had 120K on it and i sold it (cheaply!!) to my father in law, only coz i fancied a change. Its a 98 model and still puts newer cars to shame in terms of bodywork/wheels condition etc.But i too generally keep my cars for a long time, you know how they go,their history etc.Better the devil you know...as they say!!
    Cheers!!
