    Hi all,

Been a regular over on the Passat side for ages, but I fell out of love with my current Passat when I got hit with a big bill a few months ago.
I`ve thinking about changing the car ever since, and was looking to get a GT TDI, either a V or a VI.

Anyhoo, started pricing up a GT TDI at the dealers yesterday and the girlfriend says `Is that the car you REALLY want?`

    Big Mistake !

I now have on order a GTD 3 door - yep I read all the arguments about 5 door over 3, and I just prefer the 3, I only carry passengers about twice a year anyway.
    Deep Black
    Black Leather
    Winter pack
    Storage pack
    RCD510
    Reversing Camera
    Cruise control
    VW Touch bluetooth kit
    18" Vancouver alloys

Dont have a build date yet, but they agreed that if its biult and delivered before the end of Feb, that they would swallow the VAT increase.

I`m a happy boy, just cant wait for it to arrive.

Very nice! I've been waiting for my GT since July and it's been agonising. Fingers crossed for a Feb delivery for you.

    Thanks bud !
Yours should be along any second now then, shouldnt it?

One thing that I`m still thinking about adding to the order is ACC, anyone think its really worth it?

Hopefully. It should have been built this week, so probably about 2-3 weeks from now. It's a long wait, but I think it's worth it.

I gave ACC a lot of thought, especially since I was opting for the 18" Vancouvers. In the end, a combination of hearing that the ride isn't that hard on the 18s, plus the fact that ACC is quite an expensive option, meant I decided not to spec it.

Obviously price isn't an issue with you as the Vienna leather trim is £1850. I don't like leather as they are cold. I know these are heated but that tells you how cold they get. Plus they crack in time unless you saddle soap them regularly.

The Winter pack is headlamp washers, heated windscreen washers jets which aren't needed in the UK and low washer fluid warning for £340.

Cruise control is standard so I'm not sure why you've added this option?

Someone posted a topic the other day saying he's having a GTD with Cruise control, again they are standard fitment.

I still can't believe the waiting times for these new cars. @SebbyMK6 Ordered in July and you may get it in February. I wasn't happy when I ordered mine last month and they said December.

I really like having leather - its in the Passat, and wanted to keep in the new car, with the heated seats, I love it in the winter.
Cruise control isnt a standard in the GTD - no idea why as you say it IS standard in the GT TDi thought
I have a heated screen in the Passat, and was hoping to get one for the Golf too, but they just dont do it, so I went for the heated washer nozzles as a `hope it helps` option, we get quite a bit of frost where I live, its kinda pretty rural.

I really hadnt planned on spending so much, but when the girlfriend said she would pick up about half of the payments, I just went for it, I`m planning on keeping it after the 3 years (its why I went for a new one over a second hand Mk V), so I really wanted to get the spec I would be happy with.

I think you may find this option is needed in some parts of the UK -- plus.. its a personal choice!

Heated Washer jets are a must in the middle of winter across the moors on the motorway on a cold morning when its down to -5 / -7 in Winter, plus the low washer warning is a good must have in the winter months when theres loads of grit down on the roads...

Plus the pack costs £350 -

    Cheers Rick

The winter pack is £200-odd when you have leather, as the leather comes heated anyway, even the sales guy made the mistake - I worked it out yesterday and called the dealer morning, think he said it works out at £105 cheaper. Not a big saving I know when you look at the total cost, but better £100 in my pocket than theirs.

The winter pack in conjunction with leather is only £245 as it doesn't include the heated seats.
