    hi all,
newbie to site. I'll cut to the chase!
Just replaced the headunit on my Fiancee's new '53 A4 Tdi130 for an Alpine unit with built in bluetooth fone connection cos' she got mobile permanently attached to her lughole in the car. A mate at Halfords fitted it and whilst he's done a good job it transpires that its power supply is via permanent live which he says is the way that all Audi's of that generation are?? Would have thought it would be off the ignition live???
Just worried about flat batteries if u catch my drift??
Any thoughts or info would be greatly appreciated!
Other than that, really enjoying this site and the cracking info available on here. The car does smoke a we bit for a 42k miler so i'm into all the 'EGR valve' stuff at the mo' too!!
    Cheers in advance
    jase

Audi use the CAN BUS to switch on the the radio with the ignition.

There are adaptors that will plug into the CAN BUS and give a live feed out when the ignition is turned on, it will also do other things aswell, I beleive you can get them from connects2.

Alternatively, and alot cheaper, run an ignition live lead from the fuse box.
