Thanks Martin 1810 - was looking in the wrong place on the wheel. I realise the battery should be disconnected when removing airbag to be 100 % safe and have read that it is best to ground yourself as well( to remove any static) but with battery disconnection -is that going to involve any stupid warning lights appearing on re connection etc ie airbag that only a visit to the dealer will get switched off? I have also resd windows need a rest as well.
Is the std radio coded- as this car is ex demo and cannot find any card for radio etc
    Thanks

Just make sure you don't have anything still disconnected when you reconnect the battery. After reconnecting the battery you may get a couple of odd lights on relating to abs, traction control and steering. Don't panic, they will go out when you drive a few hundred meters. The radio won't need a code. Sometimes you need to fully open and close the windows to reset them but not always. It is unlikely that you will set off an air bag with static because you have no real need to touch bare wires, only connectors. Have fun.

Cheers once again for the info, am determined (sadly) to colour code the left and right MF button surrounds to the silver of the interior to make up for the boring wheel that came with the car. Thought i was getting the updated wheel but when car arrived it had the older one. Just got to fit this job in on the side when the missus is not about as we are supposed to be doing up our house and somehow she would not class this as a priority!
