A few posts ago I did ask if that was possible to put the car in gear but would it be accurate enough?

I guess I'll have to wait and see.

    Keep the replies coming

    Cheers,

    Dan

    Hello Chaps,

With the help of my friend we set the injectors up yesterday arvo, we were unable to get in on the crank pully from underneath so we managed to turn the engine over i 2nd gear by turning the wheel using a break bar on a wheel bolt. We used a dti to establish the correct position of the injector.
We set the all half a turn off as advised.

I have driven the car to work today on my normal run and it still seems to have that annoying hestitation

I'm now at a loss of what to do, I have spoken to the chap week or so ago who runs a local garage that Specializes in Audi quattros (he converts old audi coupe into group b rally replicas and so forth) he said that he could scan the car and see if he could read my injector flow rates. Then he would if required (and I could afford) re set the injectors (after double checking my cam timing however he would have to remove the front end to do that) all in it would be 3hrs labour plus the price of a code scan.

I thought set the injectors myself and save on the labour charge, but now I'm still no better off

I understand that my engine can be fully scanned using the correct eqipment ( I'm sure I've see somewhere that it is even possible to double check cam timing using vagcom or something simular). When we timed the engine up we used the correct cam locking tools, I really don't want to pull the front end off the car to double check the timing, is there any other way of checking the timing with out pulling off the front end again( is there a secondary way of viewing the timing mark on the flywheel via the gear box)?

What can I do I'm running out of ideas and Christmas is just one pay day away.

    Can anybody help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Cheers,

    Dan

I took it to my local Audi dealership for a investigation using vagcom diagnostics.
After taking the car out on test drive they agreed with me that there was a misfire.........
I left it with them for 5 hours and in that time all the did was a basic code reading scan (even though I requested a full investigation of the injectors to check for flow and to see if they are with in spec).

When I called the dealership to see if the car was ready to be collected I was informed that the mechanic had been working on the car for 4hrs and all he could find wrong in that time was that there was a sticking flap on the turbo???????????? He freed it up some how however the service manager seemed to be not sure where it was on the turbo when I questioned what exactally he had done.

What flap can stick on the turbo, any ideas?

Anyway the long and short of it is that I am still non the wiser as to what is wrong with it.
They said that there were no codes logged ( I already knew that by checking it with my own code reader)

They say it had been worked on for 4hrs(but were not going to charge me for that time) they still could not pin point the issue, I asked did the check the injectors fully using vagcom? All they could say was that the mechanic would want the car in for a couple of days to inspect the injectors further....................

I dont think so, they could not even give me any detail on what they had really done. I think that they thought they could b**l s**t me about wat they had done. After all I told them all I wanted them to do was to give my car a deep scan to see the running of my injectors not just a basic blow over.
The service manager could not understand why I was not happy with the fact that all they told be was basically I allready knew, he thought that I would be happy with the fact they had hoovered and washed my car.

A complete and utter waste of money and time.

I'm concidering contacting the manager of the dealership to dicuss the fact that they did not do what I had asked, after all I explained that I wanted them to perform a full diagnostic interigation of the injection system.

I don't want to seem like a moaner but if a dealership cant scan my car correctly where can I get it done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!

    Any ideas guys

    Cheers,

    Dan

when the head was rebuilt, were new injector seals fitted? these must be changed if the injector is removed and cost about £25 each x4 from vag. there are 4 seals per injector. if one is leaking fuel pressure to the injector? also, the bolts holding the injectors cam and rocker in are once only stretch bolts and must be replaced if undone, otherwise they can strip the threads in the head.

Regarding your time at the dealers, the Technician can check the injectors using the 5051 at the time of fault code scans! No hardship or needing any strip-down!Fair enough,he needs to rule out other factors, but if you specified for them to do it? Also,it would have been something he really should have checked with a misfire fault.

    Cheers for the reply guys,

I contacted the dealership and basically got no where all they said was that I needed to spend money with them to further diagnose the problem further. The service manager did let slip that the mechanic would want to remove the injectors to inspect them???????????????

I don't think I will bother with them because all I seemed to get back was that they wanted me to commit to book the car in. I did not like the way he spoke to me that to be honest he was rude and reminded me of an estate agent. I won't bother going back there for work, I guess that a main dealer is not the place to go with a nearly 8year old car with 168K on the clock

I have read a few long threads regarding injector seals so I guess that will be the way to go next.
I called a audi dealer parts department for a price on them and also asked if they sell many, his answer was they are a common sold part and sell a set every other day!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm posibly another one of VAG's hidden issues

Have any of you guys had problems with injector seals?

I'm thinking of replacing all of the seals (I was told by the company that supplied and built the head that they would replace the seals however there is no mention of them on my invoice from them).

What do you think, replace the seals?

I have had white smoke from my exhaust a couple of times on a cold start up that cleared after a few seconds and a couple of times the car has stalled on first turn of the key requiring me to start it up on the second attempt. Could this be a possible dodgy leaking injector seal symptom?

    Cheers

    Dan
