    Hello all,
I have the winter pack on my golf and the air con does not start now. When working it used to make a "clunk" then start, now there is nothing. Heating and air still work. I read on the site that fans and condensers can die- which does this sound like?
Is there anything I can test to give more info to you, or to narrow down the cause?

    Many thanks

First step is to check if there's gas in the system.

Waiting on an answer as to if it's been gassed will let you know.
I meant compressor above, not condenser, apologies.

Take off the wheelarch liner on the drivers side so you can see the compressor pulley.
    Remove the drive belt.
put a spanner on the pulley centre bolt and see if the compressor will turn.
    Mine was seized solid.
The compressor pulley has a 'weak point' so that if it seizes the pulley will rotate rather than snapping the drive belt.
