Im looking into whether or not i need to change my glow plugs. What are the signs i should look for before i change them? Is there anything in particular that my engine will do while the plugs are wearing out? It is having a bit of a hard time starting in the morinings if thats a signs?

Im also wondering if i need to take my fuel pump off to be able to get the glow plugs out? it seems like the pump is to close for the plugs to be able to pull out.

    any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Will.

Bad starting is definately a sign of plugs wearing out (although the weather's getting a bit colder too, so that won't help). as they're cheap, I'd swap them out, it should make your starting a lot better.
Having never done this job, afraid I can't give pointers on how easy or hard it is.

okay, thanks Im just gunna look into it more to see how to change them. In my Haynes manual it shows the plugs being removed but it is when the head is off the engine so it does not help at all..

You do not have to remove the fuel pump to replace the glow plugs, but you can remove the injector pipes, which will make it easier

Poor starting, poor acceleration - sluggish response.

Black smoke from exhaust on accelertion or general driving.

Remove the injector pipes, this job is really easy !
