lost rcd 300 radio code

thinking about selling this unit but i have no radio code (second hand car). I bet VW will charge me to find the code? Even the dealer I bought the car from?

The hand book mentions that the code itself is stored in the car's memory, so if the battery is disconnected you don't have to manually enter the code.

Is this something that VAG COM can pick up on? It would save me the hassle of a trip to the dealers if it could be picked up by a specialist.

The supplying dealer will definately have the code. If you bought the car from them ask them for it. I have seen on some other forums that they may charge a nominal fee but on others they give it you no problem. Just ask them. The car does store the code but vag com will not be able to tell you what it is.

thanks. i'll give them a call this week. to be honest if they are going to charge me i won't bother selling the unit. some go for as little as £20 on ebay!

Yes, when I changed mine out of my Passat, I kept it. When I sold the car I put it back in, and sold the kenwood unit
